Leasing agents have it tough.

They are responsible for keeping an eye on the retail market, entertaining prospects and hunting them down at impossibly high rents. In short, they are Creator of All Income for the shopping centre, landlord and agency.

Let’s give them a break shall we?

Some shopping centres still do not have the technology that can count how many people enter. This technology is not unusual and is used by everyone willing to go the extra mile and gain an edge.

Old shopping centres – watch out.

All new shopping centres are created with a people counter – so old centres are competing with newer facilities that have more technology. The good news is that older centres usually have fewer entries and are easier to fit out.

A retail leasing agent really does depend on tools to set and value rents, close negotiations amiably and aim for ever increasing returns.
